DPF removal and remap.

DPF and AdBlue faults are workshop jobs. The exhaust section and the ECU file are handled together in Ilford, and we will tell you plainly if a delete is the wrong answer for a car that stays on UK roads.

A diesel that has dropped into limp mode, filled itself with AdBlue warnings, or been quoted a four-figure filter often needs more than a bottle of additive. We read the faults first. Then we look at how the car is used. The pipework and the file are one visit, not a dongle posted to the house.

DPF

The particulate filter sits in the exhaust, usually close to the turbo. When it is blocked, cracked, or the sensors around it have given up, the car can lose power, regenerate constantly, or light the dash. The workshop options are a proper repair or replacement where the filter should stay, or removal of that section and a remap so the ECU is not still trying to run a filter that is not there.

AdBlue

On cars with selective catalytic reduction, AdBlue — the SCR system — sits next to the DPF story. A failed pump, tank heater, NOx sensor or injector can put the car on a countdown. Where that system is part of the same fault, we deal with it in the same booking and in the same file, rather than clearing one warning and leaving the next one lit.

The remap that has to go with it

Taking hardware off and leaving the standard file is how cars end up in limp mode with a row of lamps. If the section comes out, the ECU is written to match. If you also want more performance, that is a Stage 1 or Stage 2 conversation. We do not hide a power file inside a fault job without saying so.

If the car is used on public roads in the UK it has to keep its emissions equipment working. Removing a DPF is an MOT failure and it is not legal on the road. We will say that before any pipe is cut. Delete and AdBlue-off work is for vehicles where that is the right job — off-road, motorsport, export — or we repair and replace so the car stays legal. Tell us which car you have brought.

Why it is booked as workshop work

  • Faults read before a saleA scan and a look at how the car is driven come before anyone is offered a delete.
  • Pipe and file togetherThe exhaust section and the ECU are the same booking, so the car is not left half-finished.
  • AdBlue included in the briefSCR faults are discussed with the DPF, not discovered after you have paid for one of them.
  • A clear yes or noYou get a direct answer on whether this car should keep its filter for the way it is used.

Who it is for

Book this if it sounds like the car

The dash is already lit

DPF, AdBlue or countdown warnings that have been scanned and are still there. Bring whatever diagnosis you already have.

The vehicle is not a UK road car

Off-road, motorsport and export vehicles where a delete has been asked for, and where it is legal for that use.

You want it repaired properly

A filter that should stay on the car can be replaced or repaired. We would rather do that than pretend a delete is a service item.
